Hack Creative: Empowering you to tell your stories
I have joined forces with digital journalist and editor, Mark Rowland, to launch a digital content company with a difference.
Listening closely to our clients over the past few years we realised many of them were having the same issues with content. In a digital age where brands need to be reactive and hyper engaging to reach their customers and target audience, their budgets are being stretched to capacity and the content is falling short.
At Hack Creative we approach content differently.
We work with publishers as content partners to help them meet increasing demand as their business grows. We work with SME’s and entrepreneurs to empower them to create in-house content and use their budgets wisely when they need support with bigger projects. We produce high quality, targeted content quickly. We tailor everything to your business and your audience.

The Creative Space / Online Documentary Series
Episode 1: Rachel Redlaw.
Tired of living a 'multiple choice life' Rachel Redlaw decided to embrace her passion for Thai food transforming her home into a pop-up Thai restaurant. As well as starting a supperclub, Rachel started writing a blog to share her recipes. Over the past few years she has launched a Thai inspired diet and written openly about how she reimagined her life and found happiness along the way.
Chartered Management Institute / Women's Equality Report Launch
CMI produced it's Blueprint For Balance after interviewing women in the workplace and identifying where companies and management are falling short on gender diversity.
At the launch a panel of diversity champions shared their experience and advice. Working alongside Think Publishing I created a video strategy, filming and editing all video content, that both documented the event and used short social media videos to drive traffic to the CMI Women's digital portal.
BBC 5 Live / Kermode & Mayo's Film Review
I've covered for the usual video editor on the BBC's 5 Live Kermode & Mayo's Film Review show a few times now and it's always fast paced, challenging and fun. Editing the video's from a live feed during the show means we can post new reviews as soon as they've gone out on air. I sourced images, wrote copy for the YouTube channel and posted content to the BBC's iPlayer. Some of the review videos I've edited include The Dark Tower, The Hitman's Bodyguard and Jurassic World.
KPMG / The Financial Times Live / London
I worked with KPMG and The Financial Times Live on a global project bringing together business leaders from around the world to discuss the impact of Brexit.
Events were held in New York, Frankfurt, Tokyo and London. I worked with several international teams, editing videos for the Frankfurt and Tokyo packages. I then managed video production for the London event, filming interviews with key speakers.
Cision World Tour / London
Global media intelligence company Cision hosted a series of events across the globe to discuss the future of communications with leaders and influencers in the industry.
The London event took place at the Ham Yard Hotel in Soho and featured speakers including Telefónica UK‘s director of corporate affairs Nicola Green, Jason MacKenzie, the CIPR president, Lucy Hart, head of influence at Mischief PR with a keynote by The Future Laboratory co-founder Chris Sanderson.
Cision wanted to capture video highlights of the event, interviews with speakers and a spectrum of photography from across the evening. The project was turned around in 48 hours.
Mobile World Congress / Barcelona
I travelled to Barcelona with Campaign magazine to film a project with Global Media brand Xaxis at the Mobile World Congress.
Filming in their networking garden during the event had a few challenges; the wind and constantly changing light levels, being the biggest. But there’s always a solution to be found and the final video ticked all the boxes for the client.
"Sarah is a pleasure to work with. She is very professional and always delivers high quality content. Her creativity and storytelling skills really show through in her ability to weave together a video narrative. Sarah is reliable, with a track record of success. If you want a job done well and don't want to worry about anything, ask Sarah" - Georgina Brazier, Head of Video, Campaign
Gorkana Media Briefing / The British Museum
Filming at the British Museum at an event hosted by media intelligence brand, Gorkana, was a great experience. The brief was to capture a flavour of the event as well as some simple interviews that give attendees takeaway insights from the featured experts.
The speakers were senior journalists from Time Out magazine speaking about what goes on behind the scenes of the editorial desk.
"Sarah has worked with me on many different projects at different companies. The video work she has produced has been excellent and on brief" - Philip Smith, Head of News and Content at Gorkana.
Formula Student / Silverstone
Formula Student is an international engineering event held at Silverstone. It recruits the next generation of engineers to design, build and then race their own motor car. For two years I managed all video production for the event. Videos were produced and edited live onsite and seeded through social media.
The 2015 event strategy aimed to drive traffic to official content pages. Over 33,418 YouTube video views resulted in 38,128 page views on Formula Student content pages – over 4 times the usual traffic
The 2014 event focused on social media channels and delivered 52,150 YouTube video views with videos being watched across 77 countries.
Child.Org / London
"Child.org have worked with Sarah on a range of projects, from filming and editing high quality video content for our Charity Apprentice course to editing footage from our projects in Kenya to communicate our work effectively to supporters.
"Sarah is a joy to work with and produces high quality work that fits our brand, and has helped us develop a brand style for video. She has also provided really useful training in online video for the beginners on our Charity Apprentice course.
"I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sarah to other charities who want to tell their story effectively through video." - Ellie Dawes, Content and Community Manager, Child.org
Masterpiece / London
The Antiques Trade Gazette wanted to introduce video content to it's readers. I held a series of workshops with journalists to give them a grounding in all the basics they need to get started creating video content using their smart phones. The first workshop was at their office, discussing how video could work for their audience with a practical task to introduce them to the functionality of their video apps. The second took place at Masterpiece London where the team interviewed antique experts and leant how to construct a video feature that could work as real content on their website and social channels. All training content was tailored to their brand and industry and resulted in their first piece of video content going live online.
Pregnant Then Screwed / Manchester
Maternity rights charity Pregnant Then Screwed needed £12k to fund new projects and growth. I came up with a strategy that not only highlighted the difficulties facing women in the work place when they get pregnant but also how this inequality impacts fathers who want a more time with their kids alongside their partners. Three social media videos went live across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram during the final week of the Crowdfunder campaign. Not only did the charity reach their target, they surpassed it, raising £16,100.
